Feb. 2, 2017 — Our Schwan’s Home Service teams in Michigan were recently recognized by the Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities (GLACC) organization for their use of alternative fuels. The award was accepted by Zone Logistics Manager Ken Iliff on behalf of Schwan’s Home Service.

Schwan’s Home Service has used liquefied propane gas to fuel a portion of its home-delivery fleet for 43 years. Today, about 70 percent of our home-delivery vehicles use propane nationwide.

Ken said Schwan’s Home Service received the recognition for having “the highest petroleum conservation impact among the private sector stakeholders” in the GLACC region. A GLACC representative said Schwan’s Home Service has displaced at least 19,000 gasoline gallon equivalents in 2015 in the mid-Michigan area.

According to the GLACC website, it is a local coalition of the Clean Cities Network, working to address the national challenge of petroleum dependence through local activities that grow the market for alternative fuels and advanced vehicles.
