April 19, 2018 — Our human resources team recently attended the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, where they networked and engaged with students at its annual “Business Week” event. Our company was a sponsor of the student-led event, which was celebrating its 58th year.

Business Week is a one-week celebration focusing on the Carlson School of Management and its connections to the business community. This student-coordinated event connects students, faculty and business professionals in a collaborative effort to realize current successes, celebrate past accomplishments and anticipate future endeavors.

As a sponsor of the week-long event, our employees were present on campus actively engaging with students. This included having a booth that students could visit and talk with employees about Schwan’s and a sponsored lunch for Business Week participants.

According to team members who attended the event, one of the standout activities for students (and our team) was the “pie in the face” activity. Exactly how it sounds, students get the opportunity to sign up and throw a pie in a professor’s face. As pies were being tossed, participants and spectators also tried Edwards® pie samples.

Concluding Business Week activities, Carlson School of Management hosted a dinner where senior leaders from participating businesses can attend to network with industry peers and school representatives. Leaders from Schwan’s who attended the dinner included Chief Human Resources Officer Scott Peterson, Chief Information Officer Kathy Persian, Vice President of Product Development Tricia White and Vice President of Marketing Jacob Berning.
