May 31, 2016 — As a part of the launch of JACK NICKLAUS ice cream, the “Golden Bear” and his wife Barbara made sure to include Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl — a nod to their home state of Ohio, which hosts the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide this week. Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl was inspired by “buckeyes” — a favorite candy in the Nicklaus home which is named after Ohio’s state symbol and tree, and resembles the buckeye nut.
Jack and Barbara both attended The Ohio State University, which shares the same name given to Ohio residents — Buckeyes. In their native Midwest, buckeyes are a popular candy made by dipping a ball of peanut butter fudge in chocolate. Makers of the candy typically leave a small circle of peanut butter to give it the look of the buckeye nut.
Knowing the Nicklaus family’s love of chocolate and peanut butter, The Schwan Food Company’s ice cream developers went to work with Jack and Barbara to develop a flavor they would love. JACK NICKLAUS Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl starts with our richest chocolate ice cream. Then we add miniature peanut butter cups and chocolate covered peanuts. Then, we finish it all off with a delicious peanut butter swirl. Altogether, you get a delectable treat with the perfect variety of flavors and textures. Fellow Ohioans and ice cream enthusiasts alike are sure to love Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl.
With the 41st Memorial Tournament underway this week, all eyes are on the Buckeye State. The tournament field features World No. 1 Jason Day, World No. 2 Jordan Spieth, and World No. 3 Rory McIlroy, along with a host of other talented top stars. Competition in the prestigious tournament founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus begins June 2 at Muirfield Village Golf Club outside of Columbus.
Jack and his wife, Barbara, teamed with The Schwan Food Company last year to launch the line of premium ice cream pints. The partnership supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
Today, you can find JACK NICKLAUS Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl and other flavors in select grocery stores. You can visit the JACK NICKLAUS ice cream website to learn about other flavors and where you can find the ice cream.
