Schwan’s Company opens new office area at Deer Park facility

Investment includes new onsite R&D lab

Dec. 1, 2022 — This week, Schwan’s Company leaders, community officials and Chamber of Commerce members held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of new offices at our food-manufacturing facility in Deer Park, Texas.

The nearly $5 million investment, which began in April, includes new offices, conference rooms, a research and development test kitchen and an employee break area. The project included demolishing the former office area and rebuilding a new one in its location.

Solid partnerships between our business, area leaders and the community are beneficial to everyone. We were excited to share the opening of our new office area with members of our community. Our Houston-area operations are a critical component to the overall success of Schwan’s Company, and upgrades such as this are investments into our company, our employees and the overall Houston-area communities.

Early next year, the company’s Deer Park facility will begin producing products on a new multi-million-dollar egg-roll skin manufacturing line, significantly expanding the facility’s capability to make eggrolls. The line will also create 16 new jobs.

Schwan’s Company operates two manufacturing facilities in the Houston area, one in Deer Park and one in Pasadena. The facilities produce Asian-style foods such as egg rolls, spring rolls, wontons and potstickers sold under the Pagoda® and Minh® Asian-style food brands. Products are sold in retail stores under the Pagoda® brand and in food-service venues, such as schools and restaurants, under the Minh® brand.

Growth in the Asian-style food category is part of Schwan’s Company’s long-term strategy. Schwan’s has invested more than $35 million dollars into its Houston operations over the past several years to meet the growing demand for its products manufactured at the facility.

Since 2019, Schwan’s Company investments in the Deer Park and Pasadena facilities include upgrades to egg-roll rolling, filling, frying, and packaging equipment as well as the facilities information technology systems, refrigeration systems, and utilities such as water and electrical.

In 2023, the company has plans to begin projects that further improve the facilities refrigeration systems and wastewater treatment.
