Employees raise $133k for United Way

United Way of Southwest Minnesota from annual campaign.
Dec. 18, 2018 — Supporting United Way of Southwest Minnesota, employees in Marshall, Minnesota, hosted an annual campaign where they helped raise $133,798.84. The funds included employee donations that totaled $62,005.84 and a matching grant from the Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation in honor of employee fundraising.

“Thank you to all of our Marshall-based employees who contributed to our annual campaign this year,” said Kaitlin Decker, co-chair of this year’s campaign committee. “And also thank you to the Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation for its generosity and support as we work to enrich communities in southwest Minnesota.”

Kaitlin said that Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation also gave an additional grant to offset operating costs so that more of the employee donations could be used to help the community.

The United Way campaign committee coordinated several activities to help raise funds this year. Throughout the campaign, employees had the opportunity to make pledges or one-time monetary donations. Other activities, included a wine pull, silent auction, book-and-bag sale, yoga class, mini golf, ice-cream social, a mystery vault and a chili cook off.

Donations will go toward benefiting local-charitable organizations that support people and resources focused on improving education, income (financial stability), health, safety and well-being and hunger in Southwest Minnesota.

Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization focused on efforts to end hunger, promote youth education and leadership development and provide essential services that advance the health of the communities where Schwan’s Company’s employees live and work. The foundation is headquartered in Marshall, Minnesota.
