Thanks for joining us at the Schwan’s USA CUP® tournament

Congrats to the Cheyenne Sting for winning our contest!

July 25, 2016 — This past weekend marked the end of the annual Schwan’s USA CUP® tournament. As we close the door on this year’s event and start planning for yet another action-packed tournament in 2017, we want share some of our favorite memories from the nine-day tournament and thank all the players, guests and volunteers who made it all happen.

From July 15-23, the National Sports Center and Blaine Soccer Complex was home to approximately 1,180 youth soccer teams from 19 states and 19 countries.

One of the stand-out memories for us each year is the Olympic-style opening ceremonies. This year, our employees helped hand out more than 8,000 Schwan’s® ice cream novelties to players, coaches and other soccer fans. They also handed out thousands of “thunder sticks” to help fans enhance their applause and show their enthusiasm for the sport they love.

In addition to helping sponsor the tournament, our Schwan’s Cares™ fundraising program held a contest for participants to raise money for their teams. Each team that raised $500 or more was entered into a drawing, where one randomly selected team was drawn and their team- and player-tournament fees were reimbursed. This was the third year the Schwan’s Cares™ fundraising program facilitated the contest.

This year’s winning team was the Cheyenne Sting Girls 00-01 from Cheyenne, Wyoming. Their Schwan’s Cares™ campaign raised more than $600. The team was presented their reimbursement check during the opening statements at the tournament.
