More than $163K donated to United Way of Southwest Minnesota

Dec. 21, 2016 — Team members in Marshall, Minnesota, recently helped raise more than $163,000 for the United Way of Southwest Minnesota. The funds included employee donations and a Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation dollar-for-dollar match.

When delivering the news to Marcy Heemeyer, executive director for United Way of Southwest Minnesota, it was also announced by CEO Dimitrios Smyrnios, who serves as the chairperson of the Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation, that the foundation was also donating an additional $11,433 to offset the operating costs of United Way.

Donations will go toward benefitting local-charitable organizations that support people and resources focused on improving education, income (financial stability), health, safety and well-being and hunger in Southwest Minnesota.

Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is focused on efforts to end hunger, promote youth education and leadership development and provide essential services that advance the health of the communities where The Schwan Food Company’s employees live and work. The foundation is headquartered in Marshall, Minnesota.
