Plunging into frigid water for a cause

For the third year in a row, employees from our team in
Bloomington, Minnesota, participated in the annual
Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Minnesota.

March 24, 2017 — Jumping into the frigid water of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota, doesn't sound like much fun, but our team from Schwan’s Consumer Brands recently did just that to help a good cause. The team participated in the annual Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota. Together, our employees and Schwan’s Consumer Brands raised $7,152 for the organization. In addition, they also donated Red Baron® pizza for guests attending the Polar Plunge.

“Each year this is a highlight on our team’s calendar,” said Tracy Fleischhacker Quigley, senior brand marketing manager for our Red Baron® brand. “We were thrilled to participate for the third year in a row and support our hometown community, which also supports our brands.”

This year the team had about 15 jumpers, which included employees as well as their friends and family.

Each year communities across the United States participate in Polar Plunge events as an opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to raise awareness and support Special Olympics athletes by jumping into bone-chilling water. Employees from our Bloomington and Marshall, Minnesota, offices participated in the event last year, as well, raising $6,534. Schwan’s Consumer Brands had also donated $10,000 on behalf of the Red Baron® brand.
