Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation makes commitment to Feeding South Florida

Sept. 19, 2017 — The Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation recently announced a $25,000 commitment to Feeding South Florida to help with recovery efforts in the areas affected by Irma. Additionally, the Foundation has committed to making a $1-for-$1 match for any donations (up to $25,000) to Feeding South Florida from employees of a subsidiary of Schwan’s Company.

According to Feeding South Florida, every $1 donated helps provide six meals for those in need.

Our company is very appreciative of this gesture from the Foundation as we have employees located in the affected areas of South Florida.

Following the aftermath of Tropical Storm Harvey in the Gulf Coast area, our company was stunned by the outpour of support from our employees as well. In advance of this second match opportunity for our employees, we thank all of our team members for coming together to support others during a time of need.

Feeding South Florida supports 400 hunger-relief agencies in 4 counties and is a member of the Feeding America national network of 200 food banks. Schwan’s Company and Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation have been official partners of Feeding America since 2011.

Feeding South Florida was briefly closed due to damages from Hurricane Irma, but has since reopened. Unfortunately, the facility did lose all of its frozen and perishable food. While Feeding South Florida does have supplies, the funds raised will help the organization replenish shelves so they can help people depending on them during a time of need.

Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization focused on efforts to end hunger, promote youth education and leadership development, and provide essential services that advance the health of the communities where our employees live and work.
