One-day effort results in 2,700 food-shelf meals

Oct. 11, 2017 — At a recent town-hall meeting in Marshall, Minnesota, employees coordinated another successful one-day donation for United Community Action’s Kitchen Table Food Shelf. Attendees donated a total of 272 pounds of food and a monetary contribution of $646. According to the food shelf, the combined efforts will result in 2,793 meals for food-shelf clients.

“A food drive at each of our town-hall meetings throughout the year has become an easy and yet significant gesture for our employees to participate in,” said Community Relations Manager Theresa Zaske. “On behalf of our employees, I feel great in saying that it is important for us to give back to the communities that have supported us for so many years.”

The event was coordinated by Schwan’s Engagement Council (SEC). SEC is an employee-led committee dedicated to increasing engagement and celebrating successes as one Schwan’s team. The group is committed to educating employees about the company’s business, supporting community through volunteer efforts, driving collaboration across business units through activities and encouraging employees to make a personal commitment to health and safety.
