Charitable grants to the Salina community
Year-end grants to charitable organizations in Salina totaled $50,000. These grants are in addition to other community investments made by the Foundation and Schwan’s Company in the Salina area this past year.
Those receiving grants include:
- Salina Area United Way is receiving $25,000 for its annual campaign.
- Salina Emergency Aid/Food Bank is receiving $10,000 to support its efforts to help folks in need.
- Ashby House is receiving $10,000 to support its efforts.
- Child Advocacy & Parenting Services is receiving $5,000 to support CASA volunteers and advocacy services.
Earlier this fall, the Foundation granted $9,500 to Salina Park & Rec to support scholarships for children otherwise unable to afford Salina Park & Rec programming. And in February, our company announced a 15-year, $1.2 million contract supporting the Tony’s™ Pizza Event Center.
Charitable grants to the Stilwell community
Year-end grants to charitable organizations in the Stilwell community totaled $21,000. These grants are in addition to other community investments made by our company in the Stilwell area this past year.
Those receiving grants include:
- Adair County Resource Center will receive $6,000 to support its backpack program.
- Orchard Road Community Outreach is receiving $5,000 to support its efforts to help folks in need.
- Adair County Schools Boys and Girls Club is receiving $2,500 for before- and after-school programming.
- Stilwell Public Library Friends Society will receive $2,500 to support its summer reading program.
Earlier this year, the company facility received the “Employer of the Quarter” award from the Stilwell Chamber of Commerce. In October, our company announced a $40 million investment in a new state-of-the-art crème pie line that has resulted in about 45 new jobs.
Charitable grants to the Marshall community
Year-end grants to charitable organizations in the Marshall area totaled more than $145,000. These grants are in addition to other community investments made by our company in Marshall this past year.
Those receiving new grants include:
- United Way of Southwest Minnesota will receive $79,779 from Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation as a result of Schwan’s subsidiary employees giving to the organization’s annual campaign. The group will also be receiving an additional $71,147 in employee donations.
- Southwest Minnesota State University Foundation is receiving $50,000 to support academic scholarships.
- Pride in the Tiger Foundation is receiving $5,000 for its efforts.
- Additional, smaller grants will support subsidiary employee fundraising for Advance Opportunities, ARC of Minnesota Southwest, Heart to Heart, New Horizons Crisis Center, Prairie Home Hospice, Special Olympics Minnesota, The Humane Society of Lyon County and United Community Action Partnership.
