Sept. 26, 2018 — Our team in Marshall, Minnesota, recently hosted a one-day blood drive supporting the American Red Cross. A total of 52 units of blood were collected and 15 employees volunteered their time to help with the effort as greeters and helpers at the “canteen” for donors.
“It is hard to comprehend, but every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation,” said Vicki Schwartz, vice president of logistics and transportation and board of director member for the American Red Cross' Minnesota Region. “The people in Marshall who were able to donate 52 units of blood during our drive will potentially save up to 150 lives.”
Vicki also thanked Community Relations Manager Theresa Zaske for leading and organizing the blood drive, multiple volunteers and employees who took the time to donate to help save lives.
