Sept. 20, 2018 — We are thrilled to announce that our team in Bloomington, Minnesota, has raised a total of $11,279 for its annual “Food Mania” fundraiser. According to Second Harvest Heartland, every $10 donated helps the organization provide 30 meals to those experiencing food insecurities. That means our team raised enough to provide more than 33,000 meals for those in our community.

This was the eighth-consecutive year our team in Bloomington participated in Food Mania to help Second Harvest Heartland build awareness about hunger and alleviate hunger issues in the community.

The campaign efforts were led by the Schwan’s Engagement Council’s volunteer and community involvement committee co-chairs Nichole Loranger, Chelsey Larson and Corey Vance. Schwan’s Engagement Council is an employee-led group that is dedicated to increasing employee engagement and celebrating successes as one Schwan’s team. The employee group is committed to educating employees about our business, supporting our community through volunteer efforts, driving collaboration across business units through activities and encouraging employees to make a personal commitment to health and safety.

The campaign officially took place from Sept. 10-14. To maximize fundraising potential and help build employee connections, the Schwan’s Engagement Council planned a several activities throughout the “Food Mania” week. Activities included: a raffle and silent auction, wine pull, dart throw, truckload sale, pizza-by-the-slice party, a coin war and a jean-day fundraiser.

Second Harvest is affiliated with Feeding America, the leading non-profit organization working to end hunger in the United States. In 2011, our company announced it had entered into an official partnership with Feeding America.
