Aug. 12, 2022 — A big thank you goes out to team members in Marshall, Minnesota, who recently joined alongside other community members to help collect donations and volunteer their time for the annual United Way of Southwest Minnesota’s “Stuff the Bus” event. According to event coordinators, the combined efforts with those in the community resulted in a total of more than 56,000 new school supplies were donated and will be distributed to approximately 3,000 children throughout Southwest Minnesota.
The “Stuff the Bus” campaign is a community-wide effort to provide new school supplies for students in 23 school districts throughout southwest Minnesota. Backpacks, school supplies and cash donations are collected throughout the community. The project was coordinated by United Way of Southwest Minnesota and includes public, private and charter schools in the service area.
The donations will help students from the following schools: Clarkfield, Dawson-Boyd, Echo Charter, Fulda, Hendricks, Holy Redeemer, Lake Benton, Lakeview, Lincoln Elementary, Lynd, Marshall, Milroy, Minneota, Murray County Central, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Samuel Lutheran, St. Edward’s, St. Mary’s, St. Peter’s, Tracy Area, True Light, Westbrook-Walnut Grove, Yellow Medicine East.
School supplies distributed include backpacks, book covers, colored pencils, crayons, pink erasers, pencil-top erasers, folders, glue bottles, glue sticks, highlighters, markers, note-books, pencil boxes, pens, pencils, rulers, scissors and tissues.
