Dec. 11, 2017 — As marketing communications manager for social media, Courtney Beyer enjoys finding fun and innovative ways to engage Schwan’s home-delivery customers.

“I am passionate about thinking like our customers and sharing content that fits with their lifestyle and our brand,” she said. “I am always trying to find new ways to keep content fresh and up to date with the ever-evolving social landscape, without shifting away from our brand and target consumers.”

Courtney joined Schwan’s Home Service, the company’s home-delivery business, nearly two years ago to help lead marketing efforts in social media.

She recently took some time to tell us about her experiences at Schwan’s, the time she spends volunteering for the benefit of animals and some of her favorite foods.

Q: Tell us about your career journey here at Schwan’s.

A: I began my career at Schwan’s in a newly created role as manager and helped define this role in the company over the last year and a half. I've had the opportunity to test new campaigns and content such as recipe videos, live broadcasts, sweepstakes and more.

Q: What’s your typical day like?

A: My typical day consists of content planning, campaign and community monitoring, content creation, creative planning and review meetings, and campaign planning and research.

Q: Tell us why your job is one of the most interesting jobs in the company.

A: I think my job is one of the most interesting as on any given day I’m able to connect directly with customers we have had for 20-plus years, new customers and prospects to help improve their experience with us and increase brand awareness.

Q: How have you grown in your role?

A: I have grown in my ability to be a leader in the social and customer-engagement space at Schwan’s. I feel confident in providing thought leadership in social, consumer engagement, digital marketing and more.

Q: What are you most proud of throughout your career at Schwan’s?

A: I am most proud of substantially growing our social channel follower base, engagement and reach since taking this position with Schwan’s. It has been so exciting to see our social landscape change and be able to truly connect with our customers.

Q: What’s your favorite memory in all the years you’ve worked here?

A: Having the opportunity to travel to Miami to take part in the Schwan’s Chef Collective taste tour with Chef Todd Erickson.

Q: Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know about you.

A: As an animal lover and advocate, I spend much of my free time as a volunteer communications manager for a local nonprofit animal rescue, Secondhand Hounds. This work includes donor management, communications and social media content creation.

Q: What’s your favorite Schwan’s product?

A: Schwan’s® Signature™ Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Miniatures.

Q: Do you have any recipes you are a master of that you would like to share?

A: It’s more of a pairing, but I love putting sliced Schwan’s Oven Baked Chicken Breast on top of greens and raspberries, drizzled with vinaigrette. Six-Cheese Tortellini drizzled with olive oil and cracked pepper on the side is a perfect addition!

Q: What are you most looking forward to for the future of our company?

A: I am looking forward to seeing the work we’re putting into expanding our delivery options and offerings to meet consumer needs and expectations come to life!

Q: What do you like about our culture?

A: I like that with our culture I feel as though I can make change. I can help lead my own career path, challenge the status quo and receive constructive feedback that helps me grow as a professional and teammate.

Q: As part of our culture, we talk a lot about working as “one Schwan’s team.” What does that mean to you?

A: Working as one Schwan’s team to me means sharing what we’ve learned of our successes and setbacks, working together to find tools that bring efficiency and cost savings, and supporting each other’s business initiatives.
