June 12, 2018 — Our company recently welcomed its 2018 Internship Class by hosting a welcoming day and orientation at offices in Bloomington, Minnesota. During the events, interns learned about our company's history, products, brands and authentic leadership development model. They capped off their day with a volunteer activity at Second Harvest Heartland.

Senior Talent Management Specialist Jenna Kettner is managing this year’s internship program.

“We are very excited for this year’s internship class,” she said. “We are dedicated to providing them a positive learning experience and strive to give them the tools and resources needed to help them figure out where they want to take their careers.”

For their orientation, Public Relations Manager Tarsha Rice provided a company overview, which included our history, products and brands. CEO Dimitrios Smyrnios also spoke to the interns about his professional journey and gave advice on what to think about throughout their internship journey. In addition, Learning and Development Specialist Jennifer Hanson presented an overview of the company’s authentic leadership experience, which included exercises to help the interns think about how they will lead themselves and others.

Their day concluded with a volunteer activity at Second Harvest Heartland where they helped package food for those experiencing food insecurities.

“I am excited to build relationships, contribute to the company in a meaningful way and learn as much as I can about who I am and what opportunities I could have at Schwan’s in the future,” said Jenna Conzemius, leadership development intern.

Jenna said the interns have multiple events lined up throughout the summer where they will have opportunities to network with others, reflect on their development and become brand ambassadors.

Some of the special activities planned for interns this summer include “Lunch ‘n Learn” meetings with company leaders, handing out food samples at a Minnesota Twins game and a career development panel.
