Employees in Bloomington, Minnesota, sampled company products at a recent event coordinated by the Schwan's Engagement Council. |
“Food trends are rapidly changing, so the more that we can educate ourselves about our products and advocate for them, the better we will compete in a global landscape,” said Stacey Fowler Meittunen, senior vice president of product innovation and development. “From launching a product to sustaining it throughout its lifecycle, it truly takes a village. Events like this not only allow us to celebrate our products, but also the grassroots efforts of many throughout our organization.”
Set up like a tradeshow, employees visited each product booth where they could sample the new foods and learn more about each product from a brand representative. A trivia activity was also coordinated to encourage people to seek out fun facts about each product.
The event was led by the Schwan’s Engagement Council’s education committee co-chairs Susanna Hui, Barbara Wiggins and Mallory Charlier. To pull off the event, the team had additional help from the company’s internal culinary team as well as 20 volunteers and 22 representatives across the organization.
Schwan’s Engagement Council is an employee-led group that is dedicated to increasing employee engagement and celebrating successes as one Schwan’s team. The employee group is committed to educating employees about our business, supporting our community through volunteer efforts, driving collaboration across business units through activities and encouraging employees to make a personal commitment to health and safety.
Products from the Bibigo®, Freschetta®, Minh®, Mama Rosa’s® and Edwards® brands were all featured at the event as well as pizza from Schwan’s Food Service.
